Dean Lewis – A Place We Knew

I cannot believe it has only been a couple weeks since seeing Australian singer/songwriter Dean Lewis at Terminal West in Atlanta. I also cannot believe that his debut album is finally with us! I remember when he only had one song available, and I searched every week for anything new. His song “Waves” is still one of my favorite tunes and one that I turn to when I need inspiration, especially on a late night drive home. The title track “A Place We Knew” is the heart of the album and holds my favorite take away lyrics, which coincidentally are,  “your heart is my home.” If you need a jump start to your day, then press play on “Hold of Me,” “Stay Awake,” or “Straight Back Down.” One of my friends recently told me that Lewis’ song “Be Alright” reminded her of how I helped her through a difficult time. It is really interesting how things come full circle because I recently tweeted that Lewis is like a walking endorphin and that his gig put a smile on my face for days. He never seems to slow down and is always so positive. So, cheers to Dean Lewis for making the world a little better, inspiring people, and  bringing friendships closer.

Give this album a listen, and let me know what you think. Lewis has a few festivals lined up. If you want more information or tickets, click here

2017 Year End Review

I have been really excited about music this year. My favorite band, Acceptance, reunited after more than a decade of being disbanded and released a new album, I found several new artists to add to my library, and I started this music blog. Thank you for taking the time to read about the music I love. I have enjoyed sharing these tunes with you. The artist that really stands out to me above all others this year is Irish singer/songwriter Dermot Kennedy.  You can read my original blog post about him here.  I have not come across music like this in a while. You know, the kind of music you talk about daily (I think my friends are starting to avoid me). The kind of music you tell everyone about (I would shout it from a mountain top if I could). The kind of music that makes you feel alive in the best possible way (it’s  literally like magic). In all honesty, my standard of quality music has changed since I first heard him a few months ago while washing dishes (yes, hand washing dishes) after a long day. If you do nothing else before the end of 2017, go listen to his music. It will take you on an emotional journey leaving you craving more.

Here are some other artists I have had on repeat during 2017.

Thank you again for taking time out of your day to read these posts. It means a lot to me. I hope 2018 brings you much happiness.

Dean Lewis – Same Kind of Different EP

I first heard Australian singer/songwriter Dean Lewis while watching the television show Riverdale. Toward the end of an episode, the first song off this EP, “Waves” began playing. I thought it was amazing so I paused the show and quickly searched for the lyrics online to find the artist. I found him, but unfortunately for me, he only had one single available to listen to at the time. Every week I searched for more music. Finally, he released his second single “Need You Now” and shortly after, released his EP. This guy writes some of the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard, and covered the song “Adore” by Amy Shark brilliantly.

If you do nothing else today, go listen to this EP. It is one of my favorites this year.
