How Long – New Charlie Puth Single

You know who Charlie Puth is right? You know, the guy partially responsible for the hit song “See You Again” used in The Fast and the Furious movie as a tribute to the late Paul Walker? Yeah, I thought you may have heard of him. He has been keeping busy touring over the summer with Shawn Mendes and putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album Voicenotes. Keeping his funk sound going, “How Long” is the second single off his album following the summer hit “Attention.” This new single is so catchy. It is stuck in my head, and I can not help but sing along. I have been a fan of his for a couple of years and think he is a musical genius. I mean, the guy just knows how to produce a song.

Charlie’s album, Voicenotes, comes out early 2018, and I can not wait to hear it! Sorry not sorry that you will be reading about him again.

Picture This – Picture This

You may think I have a thing for the Irish at the moment, and you would be correct. I do. There are so many great things coming out of that country right now, and Picture This is one of those great things. I heard about them a couple months ago when Niall Horan announced that the folk-pop band would be joining him for a couple shows during his Flicker Sessions tour. I did not think much of it at the time, but a month later their song “Take My Hand” showed up in a playlist I was listening to on Spotify. I recognized the name and decided to look them up. Turns out, they created a lot of buzz when Ryan Hennessy, lead singer of the band, recorded “Take My Hand” and posted it on social media. It is no surprise to the buzz surrounding that song. It is a good one.

Picture This released their self titled debut album in August of this year. My favorite tunes on this album are “Take My Hand,” “Never Change,” and “Let’s Be Young.”

Dermot Kennedy – Doves and Ravens EP

Irish singer/songwriter Dermot Kennedy has completely taken me by surprise. His new single “Moments Passed” was added to one of my playlists a couple days ago. Since then, I have been in full force social media stalker mode learning everything I can about him, and spending more time than I would like to admit watching videos of him performing on YouTube. If you have not heard of him, I suggest you do yourself a favor and click on that album art, which will take you to his EP.

If you love heartfelt poetic lyrics and someone who sings with raw passion, this is your guy.

Dean Lewis – Same Kind of Different EP

I first heard Australian singer/songwriter Dean Lewis while watching the television show Riverdale. Toward the end of an episode, the first song off this EP, “Waves” began playing. I thought it was amazing so I paused the show and quickly searched for the lyrics online to find the artist. I found him, but unfortunately for me, he only had one single available to listen to at the time. Every week I searched for more music. Finally, he released his second single “Need You Now” and shortly after, released his EP. This guy writes some of the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard, and covered the song “Adore” by Amy Shark brilliantly.

If you do nothing else today, go listen to this EP. It is one of my favorites this year.

Too Much to Ask – New Niall Horan Single

May I just say that I have been really impressed by Niall Horan? I was not a huge One Direction fan. I would listen to their songs when they came on the radio (I mean, who does not love a good boyband song?), but I did not seek out their music. Heck, I did not even know their individual names. Now we are upon the great 1D break, and I am so happy about it. Why? Have you heard Niall Horan? This guy has the voice of an angel (as if I even know what that sounds like). I predict his new single “Too Much to Ask” to be a smash hit, following his last single “Slow Hands” which recently went #1 in the US. The guitar solo in this song is absolutely beautiful, and the lyrics really pull at your heartstrings with lines like “my shadow’s dancing without you for the first time, my heart is hoping you’ll walk right in tonight.”

Niall’s debut album Flicker is out October 20, 2017.
